Like many quilters I also have a lot of other hobbies… in fact you could say that I am sort of a crazed crafter!  So when I saw this new collection from INK & ARROW Fabrics I KNEW i was going to love showing it to you and getting to play with a bit of it myself!

For me knitting is a nice portable break from quilting at my longarm and since I travel with my knitting I need project bags. And of course making project bags means more chances to buy fabric.. you can see how this is a wonderfully symbiotic relationship!

Honestly you don’t even have to start from scratch. Sometimes the most satisfying project start with a purchased base and then expand from there.

The small grey bag ( above) , was from the dollar section at my local craft store!…   and since I can never leave well enough along I even dropped in a lining out of this happy-happy fabric! It is just the right size for Sock Knitting!

I really like to use fabric in ways that make the best use of the pattern.. so you can see that on the zipper of my  me-made pouch (below) this stripe was PERFECT on either side of the zipper and would make perfect binding should you desire to use in on a quilt!

The best trick to making any yarn project bag is inserting grommets to use for threading the yarn out so the bag does not have to be open all the time. This is especially important for those of us who have curious pets who love nothing better than to rummage in our bags and chew on yarn ( dangerous!)

I had the hardest time deciding which fabrics to use for this bag!  This collection is WOOL EWE by Ink and Arrow and is arrive in shops RIGHT NOW!

As you can see I did two grommets on my WOOL EWE bags since I am getting ready to do a two color knitting project and want access to two colors of yarn at the same time.  I have tried running two from the same hole but find that they tend to tangle. Doing a 4 color project.. add four grommets… it is easy!

Check out my video below.

As usual I made  my me-made bag in a rather organic, seat-of-my-pants fashion but if you would like to make a yarn bag and then add a grommet these are a few of my favorite patterns out on the web for your enjoyment.
