The new year found many quilters and sewists making heartfelt pledges to get their fabric collections in order let alone their out of control collection of works in process/progress (WIPs for those in the know)

And yet here we are mid- February and many have made little to no progress and instead feel frustrated due to the number of decisions, mental load and guilt that have come up during the process.

I mean really, who wants to have to make even more decisions in their day, and if a woman with a family  we already carry the yoeman’s share of life’s choices for not only ourself but for our family and this metal load is exhausting, ( can I get an Amen!)

And yet if we want the promised peace that comes with a tidy space and a manageable amount of projects in our craft que choices must be made.

For this reason I am going to share with you the one question that helped me “yeet’ over 20 projects straight to donation and rehome well over 50 pounds of fabric in just 1 day.

Ready?

Binding is Murder

Ask yourself – Would TODAY me buy this? And if the answer is no, then it is time to let it go.

This question while simple helps separate the quitling wheat from the burden of the chaff when used as a tool for empowered change making and not from a prospective of guilt.

The money was long ago spent, it is water under the bridge, we are here, we are now and if you would not buy it today what makes you think you are going to quilt with it tomorrow?

Take some time to process that question and roll it around in your mind.  Next time we meet I will have three soild pieces of advice on how to make this process fast and painless.

Until then, how are you feeling about the amount of fabric and undone projects.. are they a joy or a burden and are you ready to make changes?
