BadAss Quilters Society
LIBERAL AF
You are not alone
Being liberal in the quilting world can feel isolating and that is why BadAss Quilters Society exists. We are here to offer social support and community to liberal quilters and crafters who care about living in a world that values diversity and equality.
We believe that Love is Love, Science is Real, Reproductive Rights are Human Rights, Black Lives Matter and being neutral puts you on the side of the oppressor.
We do our best to be the strongest, loudest and best examples of what it means to be good humans living their lives on the left and loving side of history.
If this is you, welcome, you have found your people.
Hi, I am Maddie Kertay, founder of BadAss Quilters Society. I am a liberal AF, human who craves like minded community and does my best to be a supportive bright-light, truth-teller in an industry that favors shutting up, not rocking the boat and for women to stay in their place. I say “fuck that” and if you want to know more click on my About Maddie page for more about what you can expect here.

The Venn Diagram We Did Not See Coming.
As we have slid out of June and into July it is not that we abandon our support of the LGBTQ+ community, it is that we broaden it to think of liberties, the few we have that remain and the vast number that have been either removed entirely or to an extent that...
Celebrating 4th of July as BadAss Quilter.
To be brutally truthful 4th of July has lost its luster for me. All that ironic flag waving, and firework shooting feels pretty wrong as we live in a country that fights tooth and nail to take the rights away from so many, endangers others and leaves yet others to...

Keeping Your Cat Safe in Your Sewing Room – Cat Safe Pincushion Project
Did you know that THOUSANDS of cats end up in the vet each year from ingesting pins, needles and thread? (not to mention all the other stupid stuff they get into). The required surgery is VERY expensive and does not guarantee survival. As quilters and cat lovers it...

The Lady Garden Challenge
Rando Internet Dude : Why do you have to show those "nasty lady parts, nobody wants to see that". Me: Oh Dude, I am part of the Uterati - you know, like the Illuminati but our secret mission is to infiltrate the public with normalizing images and extensive...

BadAss Quilters Community at Patreon
In a chaotic world a place of refuge is a gift to the soul and with that in mind as well as a way to escape the punitive nature of the social media algorithm I have created a private community on Patreon for those seeking more connection with other BadAss Quilters....
Have You Ever Played Thread Chicken?
I don't know any ambitious quilter who has not played "Thread Chicken" at one time or another. We have all done it. Just a bit left to sew and a spool of thread that is dwindling down to its last couple inches of thread. The tension is real! Celebrate those times you...
