There are a lot of things about the quilting world ( BIG Q QUILTING) that give me hives and there are times I wonder why I put up with this big circle-Jerk of an industry but then I remember that past those in that circle I sure as heck love the holy hell out of a lot of the people that I have met.
One of those people is Cheryl Sleboda… her moxie and vintage girl hotness are a winning combination and then when you add in her talent?… well there is not much to say but Hell- YEAH!
( you will notice I did not say Fuck-Yeah, I am too much of a lady to say anything like that!)
Cheryl has a new video with Interweave.. it is called Heirloom Sewing Techniques for Today’s Quilter and she asked me to give it a look and tell you what I think about it. Now mind you she did not know I was going to use the phrase ‘ Circle-Jerk ” in the post about her video so this might be the last time she asks me for anything.. so pay attention.. this might be a one shot deal – pardon the pun!
But I hear you saying.. “but Maddie… Heirloom?… that is not very BadAss is it?” Well come close my kittens and I will tell you a naughty secret about myself.
I am more than a quilter, I am an heirloom sewist.. Smocking – Check, entredeux – Check, check, batiste, cotton lace and silk dupioni and Children’s Corner Patterns... check, check, check!!! And it is VERY BadAss!
So for Cheryl to take these amazing techniques and incorporate them into some of the best modern and art quilting out there is VERY VERY BadAss and that is why I was thrilled to be part of her Blog Hop to celebrate the launch of her new video!
In her video you will learn the basics and beyond of vintage sewing techniques that can transform your quilts from flat to fabulous. Cheryl takes the mystery out of smocking, pintucks, pleats, and gathers. She totally whips apart the notion that these techniques are for only the simpering sweet and naive.
Cheryl deftly describes and demonstrates each technique in a way that help you see not only HOW to do it but she points out the pitfalls along the way.
I mean really.. how can you not love a woman who actually will put up a video of her seeing herself for the first time in the video… it is so cute… give it a watch!
