As a free motion quilter I think one of the hardest things is to come up with yet another fill stitch that is just right for the quilt I am working on. Lucky for us there are an abundance of fantastic books out there on the topic each laying on yet another creative dimension to this ever evolving art. (hint – this means you really can’t have too many)
You know what makes it even better? When the fill creator is a total BadAss! (which of course is the best kind!) That is why I am tickled pink that Bethanne Nemesh has done it AGAIN!
Background Textures from A to Zen Is Bethanne Nemesh’s new book, and boy is it PURE inspirational eye-candy with Bethanne’s sassy sense of humor woven through each and every page not to mention inspiration.. did I mention that is going to make you want to run to your machine ( longarm or domestic) to give these designs a try!
Once you master the fills you are going to be searching for a project to make your newfound knowledge sing!… might I suggest her pattern Rising Tides?
Rising Tides is a free form wall hanging pattern with a kit of Angelina Fusible fibers. The directions include use of the Angelina, full size pattern pieces for this 20×30 project and suggested quilting lines for the trapunto jelly fish. Guidelines for the fancy feather tentacles are given, but the specific feathers are up to you, as is the background fills.
pssst… if you want to get fancy, while ordering pick up a copy of The Devil is in the Details.. you quilting will never be the same again! really really!
Right now Bethanne has a special going on.. Her new book is $25 ( it will be $30). But even better we have a giveaway sponsored by Bethanne’s company, White Arbor Quilting!
