Labor Day weekend is always the unofficial start of fall in my life. Time to get out the fall decorations and die of heat stroke as I festoon the front of the house with scarecrows, sunflowers and hay bales. Sure it might still be one jillion degrees here in the south but I will be damned if we are not going to start sucking back pumpkin spice everything and putting on our sweaters and boots not to mention getting serious about holiday sewing!
This week I have a cutter quilt project for you that has you half way done before you have even gotten started.. how is that for saving you some serious time!
The Cutter Quilt Postage Stamp Style Table Runner starts with a pre-made table runner that you can pick up anywhere from the Dollar Store to Homegoods and use as the base for this project. Make sure to give it a wash and a dry if the cutter quilt top you are working with was also washed and dried so that when they need a cleaning at some point they will shrink at closer to the same rate. Just to be extra careful, if you are giving these as gifts make sure to add a note to wash on delicate in cold water and to flat dry.

The one thing that is a non-negotiable in this project is a really good pair of pinking shears to trim and size the patches. My FAVORITES have gone missing in one of the packing boxes in my studio and I am making due with a cheap pair from the craft store and let me tell you … I really miss my good ones!!
Please note that if OCD is your middle name this is NOT the project for you. This is a casual project that includes measuring using your thumb and cutting with scissors and no ruler. This is a project to delight in getting up close and personal with the unique and quirky fabrics that fill so many cutter quilts and not one to use your micrometer.
