Last week we made adorable tags with even the smallest bits of cutter quilt scraps and this week we once again utilize smaller pieces that will be a result of large projects that come later in the process!
The Project
Fall is drawing near and while I don’t eat fruit anymore it does not mean that I don’t love a good apple! I was charmed when I saw Sharon Holland’s adorable Apple mug rug pattern in her free patterns section a few weeks ago and I knew it was going to be a perfect cutter quilt inspiration! Sharon has taken a great deal of time to share her work with the world, please take some time to thank her, get on her mailing list and buy a patten from her SHOP if you are able.
This project is PERFECT for a dedicated teacher in your life. Add a great mug and a coffee gift card to say thank you to those amazing teachers this holiday season or anytime!

CUTTER QUILT CHALLENGE – Starting NOW
So, are you ready to have some fun, explore the use of cutter quilts and all their design possibilities in your life? Gifts, home decor, memories?
Did I mention a $100 gift certificate to Five Little Monkey’s for one of our lucky Cutter Quilt Challenge participants? Not to mention that each person who enters gets a $10 Gift Certificate to shop online the whole month of September with Five Little Monkeys as well! (How is that for a deal?) Check out the rules!
- Each participant will need an 8×8 piece of Cutter Quilt (vintage), or Cutter Quilt top (vintage) for their inspirations piece along with your challenge entry purchase. What you do with it after that is UP TO YOU! This event is not about size, it is about featuring a little bit of fiber history in a practical or whimsical fashion. The challenge starts now and the submissions open up on the 14th of the month through the 24th. ( Check back here for the upload instructions) You WILL need good photos of your finished project where anyone can clearly see that you have used your inspiration piece as the featured element. You CAN add extra, fabric, embellishments etc but the inspiration piece must be the focal point. Bad faith efforts will be removed from the running for the prize.
- You will need the technical ability to be able to upload a photo, or to wrangle a teen to do it for you (slip them $20 bucks and I am sure they can get it done for you if tech stuff is not your thing) We are unable to upload for you- please do not ask.
- If you are going to submit more than one item you MUST have more than one registration. We will be checking, don’t make it awkward.
- If you need a piece of 8x 8 inspiration you can order one from us with your challenge entry. The pieces are random cutter quilt pieces, or cutter top pieces. Some of these will REALLY stretch your creativity and we only have a limited number of them so if you need one order early.
- You MUST upload a finished project to be in the running for the $100 Gift certificate
- Yes, this is a paid challenge, having “skin in the game” helps keep you accountable and the costs involved help pay to run the challenge, but your cost is offset by the generous $10 gift certificate for each participant to use in the month of September 2020.
- Each paid participant will be invited into a special Fb group created for just this event. Your password into the Challenge Pop-up group will come with your Gift Certificate within 5 days of paying for your entry. Please make sure you check your email for this as well as your junk and spam folders. If you do NOT have it by September 1st please contact us VIA the DM feature on the BAQS Facebook page. BAQC members, check in community for further details and bonus offers.
