When I say “Save the Oceans”, I am not implying “F*ck the Forests”.
When I say Black Lives Matter I am in no way saying that other lives have no meaning. What I am saying is that this is the conversation that is most important right now.
To insert “all lives matter” into an important conversation about how black humanity has been systematically repressed since pretty much forever is to obfuscate and intentionally misdirect a critical conversation that we who are of privilege must have.
My job is to stand in support and listen, to do my best to understand and then listen some more.
Have no doubt, if you are white you were born with a privilege that is as innate to you as your skin and hair color and it knows little to nothing of the dangers and denigration our black brothers and sisters must deal with daily.
So while I expect it to be understood,
