I am searching my memory banks about how I met today’s BadAss Quilter and I come up blank.. oddly is seems that I have known her warm smile and big heart forever and yet I think it was just last year that we actually met. Crazy how some people feel just right in your life and Cristy is one of them.
Cristy was born with a love for all things sewing, it is a family tradition! And as we can see sweet Nora is next in line!
Cristy, and her mom, Master Quilter, Sharon Schamber, made their first quilt together, 20 years ago, and the adventure has not stopped since then with each project being more inspirational than the last.
Of course life takes one in many directions, Cristy became a school teacher, married, and started her own family but the love of quilting and working with her wonderful mother never lost it’s appeal.
Her passion for teaching quilting grew, and 10 years ago, she opened her online store, www.PurpleDaisiesLLC.com, where she focuses on sewing and quilting education.
And if that was not enough in 2007, Cristy and Sharon co-authored “Piece-By-Piece: Machine Applique”, which features many of Cristy’s original designs.
Cristy has spent her lifetime learning about all aspects of sewing and quilting from her amazing mother and yet is always her very own bright spark , easy with a smile and bursting with creativity.
Cristy is dedicated to passing on Sharon’s legacy of techniques through teaching local, regional and national quilting classes and if you ever get a chance to take one you totally should!
Keeping up with Cristy is easy, on her blog www.sewmuchlikemom.com where you will find inspiration and problem solving to make your quilts as amazing as you want them to be!
